Shed the Old Ways As We Enter the Year of the Snake!

January 01, 20253 min read

Who is ready to shed the old ways in the Year of the Snake?

This could pertain to your job, your diet, your lifestyle, or any relationships that no longer serve you.

As we enter the new year, we enter the Year of the Snake on January 29th. According to Chinese philosophy, snakes are insightful, full of wisdom, well respected, and have great social skills.

The Year of the Snake is a transformative one. A lot of introspection will take place as you transform. Just as snakes shed their skin, we as humans were also meant to evolve into the highest version of ourselves.

As we slide into the new year, ask yourself, are you living the life you deserve or are you living what has become comfortable?

I have spoken for years on the wonderful blessings starting a business has brought me. Freedom of time, schedule, and living for more than just surviving. Freedoms that most of us may find difficult to achieve while working for the healthcare system. We know the broken healthcare system has its own agenda for us to follow. Living to our highest and best potential is not part of the equation.

What happens when you begin to question someone else’s agenda? What happens when you conclude that their agenda does not align with your moral compass? You may be gaslit, told you are crazy, dismissed, or squeezed out. Sadly, some of us have witnessed it or experienced it ourselves.

When we get to these crossroads of realizing a change must come, we must proceed with caution. The change may be starting that new business, leaving the old job, leaving friendships that we have outgrown, or changing our familiar lifestyle.

Any time there is change there will be opposition, whether it is from our families, friends, or colleagues. The biggest opposition you will first have to overcome is your own mindset. You will be the first one to say to yourself, it’s not possible.

You begin with the self-doubt talk.

“It’s too big to achieve.”

“I don’t have the time, money, resources, or the right support system.”

You must change that mindset if you are going to be successful.

Self-doubt and fear must be abolished. You must embrace the challenges. Use the obstacles as challenges to overcome. This is where you will find the power within you. The more you overcome, the more you will rise to meet the challenges presented to you.

In the beginning, you may find it uncomfortable and simply too much. A snake’s new skin is formed underneath the old skin prior to shedding.

You must change what you believe on the inside before evolving into the new changes.

As the new year begins, take time to become introspective. Question where you are at in life. Are you where you want to be? Or have you just become comfortable? Is there a dream brewing inside you waiting to evolve? Maybe it’s a change in your lifestyle regarding your diet, exercise, career, education, or relationships.

Maybe it’s time to shed the old skin … revealing a whole new you.
